  • Description

    Description - Plant flowering 9 dm high. Leaves about 8-12, laxly rosulate, entire, constricted above the sheath but not definitely petiolate; blade broadly lanceolate, acuminate, 25 cm long, 4 m wide, membranaceous, glabrous, light green when dry. Scape erect, slender, glabrous; scape-bracts ovate, acuminate, shorter than the internodes, entire. Inflorescence laxly bipinnate, 3 dm long, 75 mm in diameter, many-flowered, glabrous; primary bracts like the scape-bracts, many times shorter than the branches; branches curved-ascending, 8 cm long. Floral bracts ovate, acute, 1.5 mm long, shorter than the pedicels, erect; flowers nodding, rather obsucrely secund, 5 mm long, white. Sepals subtriangular, obtuse, half as long as the petals; petals subelliptic, acute, erect at anthesis; stamens included.

    On rocks in rainforest, 600-1500 m alt, southern Peru to eastern Bolivia.
