  • Authority

Berg, Cornelius C. 2001. Moreae, Artocarpeae, and (Moraceae): With introductions to the family and and with additions and corrections to Flora Neotropica Monograph 7. Fl. Neotrop. Monogr. 83: 1-346. (Published by NYBG Press)

  • Family

    Moraceae

  • Scientific Name

    Naucleopsis imitans (Ducke) C.C.Berg

  • Discussion

The petiole is often differentiated into a lower part, which is thicker and in dry material dark-brown with a ± cracked surface, and an upper part, which is thinner and in dry material pale brown and smooth. It is not quite certain whether Naucleopsis imitans can be maintained as a distinct species; the differences between it and N. glabra are largely quantitative, N. imitans being in all parts more robust than N. glabra.

  • Distribution

In the upper Amazon Basin (Colombia, Peru, Brazil, Ecuador); in non-inundated forest; at low elevations.
