  In general the subspecies recognized in the monograph can still can be told apart, even in the northwestern part of the Amazon Basin where all subspecies, except for subsp. castilloides, co-occur (sometimes even in the same locality). In a small number of collections features are mixed, possibly as a result of hybridization.
