Description
Species Description - Herb, to 1.5 m tall; stem partly rhizomatous, supraterranean part to 1.3 m long, ascending, 4-10 mm thick, (retrorsely) puberulous to hirtellous, partly with uncinate hairs; internodes to 1.5(-2.5) cm long. Leaves in spirals, spaced; lamina ovate to subcordiform to subpanduriform, in the lower part often constricted, 10-40 × 3.5-20 cm, chartaceous; apex acuminate to acute; base cordate with a wide to very narrow sinus, the lobes often overlapping; margin ± irregularly crenate-dentate to repand, sometimes ± deeply lobed; upper surface sparsely strigose to almost glabrous; lower surface (mainly on the veins) minutely puberulous or partly hirtellous with uncinate hairs and/or partly hispidulous, or to hirsute on the midrib; lateral veins 8-10 pairs, faintly or hardly loop-connected; tertiary venation reticulate to subscalariform; petiole 10-35 cm long, minutely puberulous with retrorse hairs or partly hirtellous or sometimes hirsute; stipules ovate to broadly triangular, 0.7-1.3 cm long, coriaceous, plurinervate, with the venation faintly flabellate, base subcordate, apex acuminate, puberulous or partly hispidulous. Inflorescences with the flowering face purplish to red-brown; peduncle 5-12 cm long, minutely puberulous with ± retrorse hairs or partly hirtellous or sometimes hirsute; receptacle centrally attached, discoid, (sub)orbicular (to elliptic) in outline, 1-1.8 cm diam., sometimes slightly lobed, the outside minutely puberulous, ± distinctly ribbed by veins leading to the marginal bracts, the margin dentate to appendiculate, the fringe 1-1.5 mm broad, minutely puberulous; bracts in one row on the margin or often on the apices of short or occasionally to 2.5 cm long filiform appendages, departing from the margin or occasionally below the margin, appressed, ovate to triangular, to 2.5 mm long, distinctly different in length, shorter and longer ones ± clearly alternating, minutely puberulous; staminate flowers among the pistillate ones; tepals 2; stamens 2; filaments longer than the perianth; stigmas (almost) equal in length, 0.3-0.5 mm long. Endocarp body ca. 1.5 × 1.5 mm, tuberculate.

Discussion
In Dorstenia grazielae the leaves are normally entire, only occasionally lobed, whereas in D. arifolia specimens with entire and incised leaves can be found side by side and occur in almost equal proportions.

In eastern Brazil (Minas, Gerais, Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo); in moist and shaded places; to 1000 m.
