Description
Species Description - Herb, to 30 (?) cm tall; stem with a repent, rhizomatous part, 2-4 mm thick, puberulous with retrorse straight to uncinate hairs, or subglabrous; internodes to 4 cm long. Leaves in spirals; lamina lanceolate to oblong (or ovate to subovate), (3.5-)12-18 × (1.5-)3.5-5 cm, chartaceous to subcoriaceous; apex acute to subacuminate; base acute to subattenuate (to decurrent); margin subentire to faintly crenate-dentate; upper surface glabrous; lower surface sparsely and minutely puberulous on the main veins to subglabrous; lateral veins 10-13 pairs, loop-connected; tertiary venation reticulate; petiole 3.5-8(-10) cm long, puberulous with retrorse, straight (to curved), uncinate hairs, or subglabrous; stipules triangular, 0.5-1 cm long, uninervate, sparsely puberulous with retrorse hairs or subglabrous. Inflorescences: peduncle 4-10 cm long, puberulous with retrorse straight to uncinate hairs, or subglabrous; receptacle slightly eccentrically attached, discoid, suborbicular in outline and ca. 1 cm diam, or elliptic to obovate in outline and 0.8-1.2 x ca. 0.8 cm, the outside puberulous with uncinate and straight hairs, the margin subcrenate, the fringe narrow; bracts in ca. 2 (sub)marginal rows, ovate, to 1 mm long, minutely puberulous; staminate flowers among the pistillate ones; tepals 2; stamens 2; filaments as long as or slightly longer than the perianth; stigmas not seen. Endocarp body ca. 2 × 2 mm, tuberculate.

Discussion
The species shows strong affinities to Dorstenia urceolata in its vegetative parts.

Distribution
In eastern Brazil (Espirito Santo); in moist and shaded places; at low elevations.
