    Species Description - Erect subshrubs, the stems minutely stellate-pubescent. Leaf blades to 8 x 4 cm, ovate, somewhat cordate, coarsely dentate, acuminate, gradually reduced upward, minutely stellate-pubescent above and beneath, discolorous; petioles half length of blade or more; stipules 4-5 mm long, filiform. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils, the pedicels up to 5.5 cm long, exceeding the subtending petioles, minutely stellate-pubescent, articulated 5-7 mm below the flower; in-volucellar bracts 6, linear, 10-11 x 0.5-1 mm, minutely pubescent; calyx 7-10 mm long, puberulent; corolla 22-24 mm long, white (?) with dark center; staminal column ca. 1 cm long, bearded at base, the filaments 2-3 mm long. Fruits oblate, ca. 6 mm diam., the mericarps 4 mm long, glabrous, weakly reticulate-veined; seeds unknown.

    Known only from the type collection, the plant not having been collected again in more than 150 years. The type locality is approximately at 22°N, 102°W.
