Description
Description - Plant spreading by stolons, flowering 3-8 dm high. Leaves rosulate, erect, 6-7 dm long; sheaths ovate, 7-12 cm long, usually finely purple-striped, often castaneous toward the base; blades linear-triangular, attenuate, 10-15 mm wide, glabrous above, obscurely punctulate beneath. Scape erect, slender; scape-bracts strict, densely imbricate, foliaceous. Inflorescence few-branched, subcorymbose, green; primary bracts ovate, acute or acuminate, about half as long as the branches; spikes subellipsoid, sessile or subsessile, densely 3-10-flowered, 25-40 mm long. Floral bracts ovate, broadly acute or obtuse, slightly but constantly shorter than the sepals, coriaceous, even, ecarinate, subglabrous; flowers subsessile. Sepals elliptic, acute, 10-12 mm long, short-connate, carinate, coriaceous; petals white. Capsule slenderly cylindric, 3 cm long; coma reddish brown.
