Description
Species Description - Subshrubs 0.5-1.5 m tall, the stems minutely stellate- or glandular-pubescent and with scattered setae 1.5-2 mm long. Leaf blades ovate, 3-5(-8) x 2-4(-6) cm, basally cordate, serrate, acute, palmately 5-nerved, discolorous, the upper surface minutely pubescent with stellate and bifurcate hairs, the lower surface softly tomentose, also with scattered 2-3-armed stellate spicules or these sometimes absent; petioles 0.5-2 cm long; stipules filiform, 2-3 mm long. Flowers solitary or paired in the leaf axils, the pedicels 3-6 cm long; involucellar bracts 6-7, lanceolate, 11-13 x 1-3 mm, minutely stellate-pubescent and also ciliate, especially toward the base, the hairs 1-2 mm long; calyx 6-8 mm long, minutely stellate-pubescent and maiginally ciliate, the hairs 1-2 mm long; corolla 1.5-2.5 cm long, pubescent on margins of claw, yellow, with small red center. Fruits 6-7 mm diam., minutely and retrorsely scabridulous; mericarp body ca. 5 mm tall, with 2 lateral wings and a subapical apiculum 1-2 mm long; seeds 3-4 mm long, glabrous, striate.
