Description
Description - Plant propagating by numerous rhizomes. Leaves 5-15 in a rosette, to 70 cm long; sheaths elliptic, lepidote, yellow-brown, serrate toward apex; blades linear, attenuate, 1-3 cm wide, coriaceous, dark green, laxly or sublaxly serrate with curved spines 2 mm long. Inflorescence compound with a few very short branches, corymbose, sunk in the center of the rosette. Floral bracts narrowly elliptic, acute, mucronate, 2-3 cm long, 914 mm wide, carinate toward apex, barely exceeded by the sepals; flowers subsessile, about 4 cm long. Sepals free, lance-elliptic, acute, 12 mm long, carinate, pale green, glabrous; petals free, naked, acuminate, 20 mm long, 3 mm wide, white; stamens included; ovary slightly 3-angled, 18 mm long, 4 mm in diameter.

Distribution
Known from the type collection only. Ule 5365 (B, F photo 11264) is a supposed narrow-leaved form but it has not been possible to verify this.
