    Variety Description - Leaves 5-10(-15); leaf spines to 8 cm long, few on sheath and petiole; sheath 10-35 cm long; petiole 0.3-1.1 m long; rachis 0.7-1.8 m long; pinnae 12-20 per side, irregularly arranged in clusters of 2-3, spreading in different planes, sigmoid; middle pinnae 20-37 × 3.5-10 cm. Inflorescences interfoliar; peduncle usually not spinulose; rachillae 10-25.
