Description
Description - Plant flowering about 1 m high (?). Leaves rosulate, to 46 cm long, covered with fine appressed cinereous scales; sheaths elliptic, 20 cm long, dark castaneous; blades subligu-late, acute, sometimes dark-spotted. Scape unknown. Inflorescence tripinnate nearly to apex, over 30 cm long, 13 cm in diameter; axis strongly geniculate, stout; primary bracts reflexed, elliptic, acute, about half as long as the axillary branches; bracts at the base of the spikes scarcely larger than the floral bracts; spikes short-stipitate, oblong, obtuse, 35 mm long, 14 mm wide, laxly 10-flowered; rhachis geniculate, strongly angled, ferruginous-lepidote. Floral bracts spreading, ovate, acute 5 mm long, shorter than the sepals. Sepals strongly asymmetric, ovate-elliptic, obtuse, 8 mm long, ferruginous-lepidote, glabrate; petals 3 mm longer than the sepals, yellow when dry, spreading at apex; filaments adhering to petals; anthers 1.5 mm long; ovary subglobose, abruptly contracted into the style.
