Description
Subspecies Description - Tree; indumentum of young parts closely appressed. Lower leaf surface glabrous, leaves elliptic or oblong, thinly chartaceous, secondary veins straight. Corolla tube 3-4 times as long as lobes, creases at base of lobes often long and equalling the lobes, indumentation present on corolla tube and lobes. Fruit unknown. Field characters. A slightly buttressed tree to 25 m high with fluted bole, the bark with white milky latex. The flowers are yellowish-green, and the fruit ripens violet, with copious latex in the pericarp. Flowering Jul to Oct, fruit maturing Feb.

Discussion
Distribution and Ecology: Venezuela, French Guiana, Guyana, Surinam, with a single record from Para, Brazil. It is known from a variety of lowland forest types up to 400 m altitude: seasonal semievergreen forest and pioneer vegetation in French Guiana, high mixed wallaba forest in Surinam, dry Mora forest in Guyana and high wet forest in Venezuela.
