Species Description - Tree; young shoots densely crisped puberulous (brown hairs), indumentum persisting, eventually glabrous, brown, slightly cracked, without lenticels. Leaves loosely clustered, spirally arranged, 10.5-25.5 × 5-10.5 cm, oblanceolate to obovate, apex narrowly attenuate to obtusely cuspidate, base narrowly attenuate or acute, chartaceous, glabrous above except for puberulous midrib, uniformly shortly-pubescent below with brown, erect, stalked, two-branched hairs; venation eucamptodromous, thin marginal vein present, midrib slightly raised on the upper surface, secondary veins 10-15 pairs, parallel, slightly arcuate; intersecondaries absent; tertiaries oblique; quaternaries mostly at right angles to the tertiaries. Petiole 0.7-3 cm long, not channelled, densely puberulous. Fascicles 5-7-flowered, mostly clustered below the leaves. Pedicel 2.5-3 mm long, puberulous. Flowers bisexual (?). Sepals four, 2.5-3.5 mm long, outer broadly ovate, apex obtuse, inner suborbicular, apex rounded, appressed sericeo-puberulous outside, inner pair with broad glabrous margin, glabrous inside. Corolla broadly tubular or campanulate, 3.5-4 mm long, tube 2.5-3 mm long, lobes four, ca. 1 mm long, broadly oblong, apex rounded or truncate, ciliate. Stamens four, fixed just below halfway up the corolla tube, with prominent traces to the base of the tube; filaments 1-1.5 mm long, glabrous; anthers 1-1.25 mm long, lanceolate, flattened, sometimes apiculate, glabrous. Staminodes four, ca. 0.75 mm long, lanceolate, apex rounded, ciliate. Disk absent. Ovary globose, four-locular, densely strigose; style 1.5-2 mm long after anthesis, glabrous; style-head simple. Fruit ca. 3 cm long, broadly obovoid, apex truncate with small apiculum, base obtuse, veluinous.
