    Species Description - Tree; young shoots shortly appressed pubescent, soon glabrous, pale greyish, thinly scaling, without lenticels. Leaves spaced, alternate and distichous, 5.5-11 × 2-3.2 cm, elliptic or oblanceolate, apex tapering, usually long caudate, base acute or narrowly cuneate, thinly coriaceous, upper surface glabrous, lower surface finely appressed sericeous with silvery hairs, becoming glabrous, venation craspedodromous or brochidodromous with a strong marginal vein, submarginal vein, if present, very close to the margin, midrib sunken on the upper surface, secondary veins shallowly ascending, finely striate, indistinguishable from the intersecondaries and tertiaries. Petiole 5-7 mm long, channelled, appressed pubescent. Fascicles 1-2-flowered, axillary or in the axils of fallen leaves. Pedicels 0.5-2 mm long, shortly appressed pubescent. Flowers unisexual (?). Sepals five, ca. 2.5 mm long, ovate, apex obtuse, shortly appressed pubescent outside, scattered appressed hairs inside. Corolla ca. 3.5 mm long, shortly cylindric, tube ca. 2.5 mm long, lobes five, ca. 1 mm long, ovate, apex obtuse, glabrous. Stamens five, included; filaments ca. 0.5 mm long, glabrous; anthers ca. 0.5 mm long, lanceolate, glabrous. Staminodes five, ca. 1 mm long, subulate, glabrous. Disk absent. Ovary ovoid, four-locular, long stiff-hairy; style ca. 1.25 mm long after anthesis, glabrous; style-head simple. Fruit ca. 2.5× 1.2 cm, ellipsoid, apex acute, apiculate, base rounded, smooth, glabrous. Seed solitary, ca. 2.1 cm long, laterally compressed, testa minutely transversely wrinkled, shining 0.2-0.4 mm thick; scar adaxial, ca. 2 mm wide. Field characters. Tree to 15 m high and 25 cm diam. with white latex. Fruit maturing purple. Flowering Jul to Sep, fruit maturing Jun to Aug.
