Description:

Herb 4" tall. Roots 1" long. Stem single erect. Leaves 1 ¼" long. Flower rounded cluster made up of deep violet radially symmetrical 2-lipped tubular shape, ½" long, surrounding a dark red flower head with prominent white hairs, all held by green cup-shaped calyx. Whole flower 1" wide, 1" tall. Measurements from fresh plant.
Habitat:

Soil loam and volcanic rock, dry. Exposure sun. Edge of valley, broken up volcanic rock on hillside.
