Description:

terrestrial herb. Terrestrial herb to 2.5m, new leaves red-purple, young leaves red-purple beneath, younger leaves more oblong-lanceolate, older leaves more ovate. Inflorescences pendent, axis red, bracts red at base, margin yellowish-gren, keel and apex yellow, flower yellow, fruit blue. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
Habitat:

Steeply hilly terrain with lian forest on crests, open forest with palms on slopes, and many areas of "baixio" (open forest with palms, sporadically flooded by overflowing streams).
