Description:

Vigorous young fruiting clones. Many inflorescences infested by the hemipteran seed predator Lyrnessus geniculatus (Guerin). Older shoots producing smaller, reduced-leafy "short-shoots" from the lower nodes, these terminated b y a reduced inflorescence; decumbent stems producing still smaller "short-shoots," these terminated by a very small, sppike-like inflorescence. A few senescent clones present in deep shade of more or less primary forest on the summit of the escarpment. Phenology of specimen: Sterile.

Habitat:

In secondary growth forest. Near the base of the escarpment, just S of the nature trail.
