Description:

Tree 30 m x 45 cm, bark light brown, shallowly fissured, shed in large irregular plates, thick; inflorescences arching, immature fruits only. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
Habitat:

Forest on low levees and backsloping terraces that are inundated supra-annually. Canopy discontinuous, understory with high density of Heliconia and Marantaceae. Occasional in sun near river.
