Brazil. São Paulo. Mogi Guaçú Mun. "Campos das Sete Lagôas". Fazenda Campininha, just north of Rio Moji-Guaçu. ~15 km N of PADUA SALES. (About 27 km NW of city of MOJI-MIRIM). Alt. 575 - 650 m. (1886 - 2133 ft.)

Description:

Tree 2.5-3 m tall. Fls. white with a spray of short purple lines in center of each petal. Phenology of specimen: Flower.

Habitat:

Degraded campo cerrado. Well-scattered shrubs & small trees twisted by former fires, giving a savanna-like aspect. Ground cover of grasses & herbs. General vegetation: campo cerrado on upland (or occasionally forest). Open marsh or dense secondary forest along streams. Soil poor, reddish-brown fine sand with a little clay.
