An herbaceous undershrub with decumbent stems and violet scented, violet colured flowers just comong into bloom. The scent of Parma violets is pronounced.

Habitat:
On stony pasture hillsides. A rare species, widely scattered in Khasia above 5000 ft., but nowhere common. This solitary specimen half hidden amongst grass and stunted shrubs.
