Location:

Brazil. Acre. Santa Rosa do Purus Mun. Rio Chambuiacu, right-bank tributary of Rio Purus defining border with Peru. Water 1-2m below maximum, ca. 30m across at mouth but only 8m wide 3 km from mouth.

Description:

Tree. Tree 15m x 20cm, base of trunk fluted, outer bark brown, shallowly fissured, thin, inner bark off-white, fibrous. Fruits pendent, deptressed-globose, to 5cm diam. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.
Habitat:

Undulating terrain, forest regenerating from Guadua bamboo die-back several years ago. Canopy open, relatively few trees, dense understory, many vines and lianas. Rare. Poorly drained soils.
