Description:

terrestrial herb. Succulent terrestrial herb, leaves 1.7m long, underside wine-red, inflorescences to 1.3m tall, bracts green, flowers orange except stamen pink; fruit orange, seed blue. On forested slope above "baixo." Photo. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.

Habitat:

"Baixo" (low terraces possibly flooded occasionally by overflowing streams, with semi-closed canopy including Hura, Moraceae, trunked palms, Sterculia, Eschweilera; understory with Marantaceae and Araceae); and surrounding slopes (with Averrhoidium, Couroupita, Moraceae, Annonaceae, Pouteria).
