Description:

Large tree, 65 feet high with a 3 foot thick stem; branches mostly toward the top, widely spreading; wood moderately hard, the central portion murky white, odorless and tasteless; bark thick, yellowish; smoothish twigs gray, quite numerous, ascending; leaves suberect, crowded toward the ends, curvingly folded upon the upper much deeper green surface, sublucid on both sides; infrutescence ascending, 3-6 inches long, arising beneath the foliage; the spikes unbranched; fruits hard, green, smooth, fusiformly ellipsoid, the apex more tapering to a finer point; the green fibrous meat enclosing a large, stony fruit which contains a flattened seed.
