Location:
Guyana. Cuyuni-Mazaruni. Eboropu Mountain, adjacent to eastern side, 4 miles upstream on Saydak Creek from its junction with the Kako river. Alt. 470 m. (1542 ft.)

Description:
Shrub. Small shrub 6ft high, spreading. Leaves very viscid, olive-green and slightly shiny adaxially, grey-green and matte abaxially. Calyx tube pale green with carmine hairs, segments carmine with small apical pale green patch. Petals white. Berries very dark purple or black.

Habitat:
Alluvial flood plain rain forest with levee. Trees to 40m high (including a damaged emergent truncated at 40m) Included were Mara gongrijpii, Eperua jenmanii, Lecythis and Eschweilera spp. Shrub layer including Miconia, Tococa, Psychotria and Duguetia spp. Field vegetation (to 2m high) sparse to moderate, including Diplazia karatifolia, Trichomanes pinnaturm and Ischnosiphon, Olyra longifolia common on waterside. Seedling and sapling trees abundant, to 75 sq m, especially on levee.
