Description:

Low annual; deep fleshy taproot; peduncles reduced, petals purple.

Habitat:

Soil: deep sand, destabilized, frequent blowout regions without vegetation. Associated with: Vaccinium arboreum, Quercus incana, Ilex vomitoria, Betula nigra, Abronia macrocarpa. Also seen: Nothorscordum bivalve, Baptisia.
