Location:

Brazil. Maranhão. Lorêto Mun. "Ilha de Balsas" region, between the Rios Balsas and Parnaíba. About 40 km south of Lorêto. Near place called "Picada", about 1/2 km S. of the creek, "Riacho da Picada". Alt. 300 m. (984 ft.)

Description:

1 1/4 m tall, with several spreading stems from ground. Phenology of specimen: Flower.

Habitat:

Flat top of low plateau. Tree "chapada". Soil light buff sand top layer, darker below. [See label for further habitat description.].
