Brazil. Acre. Sena Madureira Mun. Basin of Rio Iaco, Seringal São Jorge, area of Acre Brasil Verde mahogany management project, 107 km from Rio Branco on BR-364, then approx. 22 km E on unpaved access road called Ramal da Fátima. Alt. 167 m. (548 ft.)

Description:

Tree. Tree 30 m x 60 cm, outer bark grayish brown, with long, wavy, deep fissures, also deeply pitted, thin, inner bark maroon, fibrous. Fruits orange, globose, 2 cm diam. Endocarp extremely hard. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.

Habitat:

Terra firme forest on hilly terrain, canopy discontinuous, few palms, some patches of Guadua (arborescent bamboo).
