Description:

sarmentose herb. Sarmentose bamboo, climbing by spines, reaching at least 10 m height. Anthers and stigmas wine-colored. Protandrous. Dominant in places on higher ground with better drainage. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
Habitat:

Tabocal (forest dominated by Guadua weberbaueri) on mostly level terrain. Canopy open, low tree density, understory open in places. Locally common. Soils poorly drained in most places.
