Bolivia. Santa Cruz. Andrés Ibáñez Prov. Transition from subtropical semideciduous forest on old stabilized sandy dunes to the north and the northern limit of the chaco forest to the south, along new highway from Santa Cruz to Abapó, 9 km S of Río Peji bridge. Alt. 500 m. (1640 ft.)

Description:

Wandlike herb, few-branched, to 2.5 m tall, along grassy roadside with Panicum maximum, not seen in nearby pastures. Flowers violet, fading more bluish. Fruit light brown.

Habitat:

Surface somewhat irregular, mostly cleared for pasture, with pastured original forest.
