Description:

herb. Herb to 1m tall. Inflorescences erect, fleshy, bracts red except for yellow keel and fringe, flowers yellow. Frequent by trails. Few fertile.

Habitat:

Moist terra firme forest on tertiary sediments. Terrain hilly, dissected by deep narrow stream beds.
