Brazil. Maranhão. Lorêto Mun. "Ilha de Balsa" region, between the Balsas and Parnaíba rivers. 3 km east of main house and Fazenda "Morros", ca. 35 km south of Lorêto. Alt. 300 m. (984 ft.)

Description:

Tree 4 m tall, trunk 15 cm d.b.h. Sepals greenish-yellow, petals golden-yellow. Ovary 5-parted, white; style golden-yellow. All specimens of this no taken from one tree. Phenology of specimen: Flower.

Habitat:

S.W. corner of dammed pond at "Sambaíba". In fringe of gallery forest at edge of pond, adjacent to "chapada" woodland on higher ground. [See label for further habitat description.].
