Description - Tree 8-10 m tall; branchlets and stipules not seen; petioles 16-19 cm long, terete, glabrous; rachis ca 30 cm long, terete, glabrous; leaflets 3- or 4-jugate, the petiolules 8-10 mm long, glabrous, minutely verruculose, slightly canaliculate on the upper surface, the blades coriaceous, 23-38 cm long, 9.5-11 cm wide, elliptic to oblong-elliptic, more or less acute at both ends, glabrous above, micro-strigulose on the costa and primary veins, the costa and primaries slightly impressed on the upper surface, strongly salient beneath; inflorescence cauligerous, 22-30 cm long, the axis pubescent, the bracts minute, concave, acute, the bracteoles probably lacking; pedicels ca 5 mm long, pubescent; buds ca 12 mm long, oval in outline; calyx segments 4, pubescent externally, the petal blade rounded-ovate; larger stamens 2-4, as long as the petal, the smaller stamens numerous; ovary linear-oblong, densely pubescent, attenuate to a relatively massive style; fruits not seen.

Discussion:

Although this species is very incompletely known, it is not possible to identify it with any other at this time. It is nearest S. amplifolia in floral characters but more like S. pinnata in the venation of the leaflets.
