Description - Tree with sulcate, densely pubescent branchlets; stipules caducous to deciduous, 2.5-6 mm long, 2-4 mm wide, triangular-ovate to ovate, acute, densely pubescent externally; petioles terete, densely pubescent; rachis terete except slightly canalicaulate at the insertion of the leaflets, densely pubescent; petiolules 4-9 mm long, velutinous or microstrigulose, the blades of the lowermost pair smaller and oval to suborbicular in outline, 5.5-16 cm long, 3-8 cm wide, obtuse to subobtuse basally, the apex acute to rounded or retuse, the blades of the other pairs 13-32.5 cm long, 5-12 cm wide, elliptic to elliptic-oblong or obovate-oblong, acute to rounded at the base, the apex rounded or abruptly short-acute, all the leaflets glabrous on the upper surface except for the pilosulose costa, golden or silvery sericeous beneath, the venation slightly impressed on the upper surface, strongly salient beneath, the primary veins anastomosing submarginally in a conspicuous, well-developed vein; inflorescences ramigerous, 6.5-45 cm long, racemose, the bracts persistent, triangular to ovate broadly, 1-2 mm long, 1-1.5 mm wide, densely subappressed-velutinous or micro-strigulose externally, glabrous within, the bracteoles lacking; pedicels (4-)7-10 mm long, velutinous, the buds 7-8 mm diameter, globose; calyx segments thick and rigid, persistent with the fruits, velutinous or strigulose externally, glabrous within; petal yellow; larger stamens 2-4, most of the parts pubescent, the filaments 6-8 mm long, the connective villose, the smaller stamens glabrous, the filaments 4.5-9 mm long, the anthers 1.5-2 mm long, 0.5-0.7 mm wide, narrowly oblong, the pollen from all stamens globose, 21-23.5 µ diameter; stigma truncate to punctiform, the style 0.5-1.5 mm long, the ovary slightly arcuate, 4.5-6 mm long, 2-2.5 mm wide, the gynophore 2-4 mm long; fruit 5-15 cm long, 2.5-5 cm wide, oval or more or less oblong, oval in cross-section, the sutures sometimes incrassate, the stipe 5-10 mm long; seeds 1- several per fruit, more or less oblong, ca 3.5 cm long and 2 cm wide, the seed coat ochre-colored, nitid, the aril white, nearly half-covering the seed.
