Description - Tree 10 m tall, the branchlets velutinous; stipules caducous to deciduous, 5-9 mm long, 7-10 mm wide, densely strigose externally, glabrous or marginally strigulose within; petioles 2-4(-6) cm long, terete, velutinous or tomentose, the rachis (4.5-) 10-17(-23) cm long, terete, sometimes obtusely stipellate at the leaflets; leaflets 3- or 4 (or 5) -jugate, the petiolules 2-5 mm long, velutinous, the blades of the lowermost pair smaller, (3.5-)6-10 cm long, 2.5-5.5 cm wide, oval to ovate, the blades of the other pairs progressively larger toward the leaf apex, (6.5-) 11-17(-22) cm long, 3.5-6(-9) cm wide, elliptic to oblong-elliptic or oblong, the bases of all leaflets rounded-obtuse, the apex abruptly acute to acuminate, glabrous above or the costa pilosulose, more or less tomentulose beneath, the costa and primary veins plane or the costa slightly impressed on the upper surface, salient beneath; inflorescence cauligerous to ramigerous, 6-25 cm long, the axis velutinous, the bracts deciduous to persistent, semicircular to oblate, 1.5-2.5(-3.5) mm long, 1.5-3 mm wide; pedicels (11-) 15-22 mm long, velutinous; buds globose, 8-10 mm diameter, densely strigulose; calyx segments 4 or 5, persistent, densely strigulose externally, glabrous within; claw of the petal 3.5-4.5 mm long, the blade oblate, cordate basally, 15-23 mm long, 20-30 mm wide, villose-sericeous externally, glabrous within; larger stamens 4-9, the filaments 17-22 mm long, more or less villose, the anthers oblong, glabrous, ca 3 mm long and 1 mm wide, the pollen grains globose, ca 30 µ diameter, the smaller stamens glabrous, the filaments 13-18 mm long, the anthers oblong, 1-1.5 mm long, 0.7-0.8 mm wide, the pollen globose or subglobose, ca 30 µ diameter; stigma capitate or capitellate; style 9.5-12 mm long, the upper part glabrous, pubescent toward the base; ovary sericeous, 8-11 mm long, 2-3 mm wide, narrowly arcuate-elliptic; gynophore 9-12 mm long, usually sericeous apically but otherwise glabrous; fruit 11.5-13 cm long, 4-4.5 cm wide, arcuate-oblong, obliquely ridged laterally, minutely brown-tomentulose, the stipe 12 mm long.
