Habitat:

Acidic forest of mixed hardwoods (Acer saccharum, Carya, Liriodendron, Magnolia fraseri, Oxydendrum, Quercus prinus, Q. rubra) and Tsuga with ericaceous understory (Kalmia, Rhododendron) and sparse sandstone rocks. on dead Tsuga.
