Description:
Species Description - Appressed hemiepiphytic vines reaching canopy, sometimes branching and spreading as low as 4 m high. Stems with internodes 1-19 cm X 6-15(20) mm. Leaves: petiole 10-20(26) cm long, sheathing throughout most of length, the sheath erect; blade ovate to ovate-elliptic, 19-40 X 6-33 cm, usually inequilateral, rounded to weakly cordate at base. Inflorescences 1, the peduncle 1.7-8 cm long; spathe cream or green abaxially, white adaxially, 6-9 cm long, promptly deciduous; spadix cream, becoming purplish after anthesis, 4.3- 12.5 cm long, stipitate, the stipe 3-7 mm long. Fruits red, 3 - 4 mm diam.
Distribution and Ecology - In the Guianas fl (Jan, Feb, Jun, Aug, Oct, probably year round); very common along road between airport and Eaux Claires.
