Description:

Species Description - Monoecious shrub or small tree 1.5-8 m tall; bark light brown, smooth, with numerous lenticels; twigs pubescent or puberulent, angled to nearly cylindrical, slightly flexuous. Leaf blades 5.5- 14.5 x 2-5.5 cm, lanceolate to ovate-lanceolate, chartaceous, weakly scabrous above, the lower surface prominently veined, the apex acuminate, the base cordate to rounded, unequal, the margins finely serrate; petioles 6-10 mm long. Flowers greenish yellow, unisexual, in short, branched, axillary cymes. Calyx deeply parted, ca. 0.7 mm long, the sepals lanceolate. Drupe globose, to 3 mm long, turning from green to orange, with 2 persistent, unbranched styles.
