Description:

Species Description - Tree, 6-9(-18) m tall, with dense rounded crown; trunk to 10 cm diam.; bark smooth, whitish. Branchlets slender, olive-green to brownish-red, subterete or subangular at tips. Leaves elliptic to ovate-oblong, sometimes ovate, apex rather abruptly acuminate for 0.5-1.5 cm, often subfalcate, tip blunt, base attenuate to obtuse, often somewhat oblique, subcoriaceous or thinly coriaceous, flexible, green-olivaceous and shiny mainly above in dry specimens, finely and more or less densely tuberculate above only, not wrinkled, laticifera obscure, edge a little revolute, variable in size, 6-13 x 3-6 cm, on sprout-shoots to 20 x 10 cm, midrib plane or somewhat immersed, strongly raised beneath, lateral nerves rather irregular, 6-8 pairs (the lowest pair from base of the lamina) rather straight from midrib, looping before the edge, faintly raised above, slightly so beneath, veins and veinlets forming a dense network which is finely though very distinctly prominent on both surfaces; petiole dark, rugulose, (7-)10-15(-18) x l-2mm. Flowers 6-10 per fascicle from bracteolate axillary glomerules; pedicels slender, 5-7 mm long. Calyx crateriform, 1 mm long, acutely 5-lobed halfway. Petals elliptic-oblong, edge seemingly ciliolate, hairy in the upper ½ inside, white or greenish, fragrant, 2-2.5 mm long. Stamens 10. Drupe broadly ellipsoid to subglobose, white or pale yellow-green at maturity, 10-15 x 8-10 mm. Fruit-calyx subcoriaceous, 1.5—2.5 cm diam. when expanded, pinkish to red, obtusely 5-lobed in the upper 1/3 to ½, finally spreading or reflexed.
