Genus Description - Trees. Leaves once-pinnate, large; leaflets opposite; rachis usually winged, with nectariferous glands between leaflets; stipules minute. Flowers bisexual, in axillary spikes, globose heads, racemes, or umbels; calyx bell-shaped or tubular, with 5 minute teeth at apex; corolla white, funnel-shaped, with 5 more or less elongate lobes or these united at base; stamens numerous, long-exserted, the filaments of unequal length united into a tube at base; ovary sessile, with several ovules, the style filiform, the stigma terminal, small, capitate or punctiform. Legume oblong, straight, flattened, swollen or angled, indehiscent; seeds transverse, ellipsoid, surrounded by fleshy, white pulp.
