Description:

Erect, slender shrub, 1.25 m high; sparsely branched; ovary and stigma red, bracts green. Common. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
Habitat:

Along edge of woods, extending into adjacent grasslands of Panicum maximum ridge between two canyons; chert substrate.
