Description:

Erect shrub, 9 feet high, with a 3 inch thick stem; wood rather soft, pinkish-white; bark yellowish-brown, checked; branches slender and lax, widely spreading; leaves horizontal or descending, recurved, velvety dark green on the upper side; yellowish-green beneath, coriaceous, flat; the green stalks of the inflorescence ascending, arising from the uppermost leaf axils; clayx yellowish with pink tips; petals creamy-white; fruits dark red. There are all stages on the same inflorescence and the combination of colors set off by the pleasingly colored leaves is very delicately pretty. Phenology of specimen: Fertile.
Habitat:

On a dry wooded ridge.
