Brazil. São Paulo. Mogi Guaçú Mun. Campos das Sete Lagoas. Fazenda Campininha, just north of Rio Moji-Guaçu 4 km NNW of Padua Sales (About 27 km NW of city of Moji-Mirim). Alt. 575 - 625 m. (1886 - 2051 ft.)

Description:

Shrub 0.5 m. tall. Petals rose-violet with red spot at base of each. Anthers red, filaments & style lt. green, Similar to no. 1743 but with larger leaves. Phenology of specimen: Flower.

Habitat:

Campo cerrado (a type of scrubby woodland originally) on upland, or very rarely forest. open marsh or dense secondary forest "mata" along the streams. This habitat: dryish soil, open transition area between cerrado & marsh. 10 m. from no. 1743 & part of same cont. population.
