Colombia. Valle del Cauca. El Cairo Mun. Valle/Chocó border: Correg. Boquerón, Vereda Las Amarillas, Serrania de Los Paraguas; along road to and beyond Cerro del Inglés, 17-23 km W of El Cairo. Alt. 1750 - 2050 m. (5741 - 6726 ft.)

Description:

Terrestrial shrub to 1.5 m tall. Stems winged. Leaves dark maroon beneath. Inflorescences at ground level. Calyx dark maroon. Buds pinks with mature petals white. Phenology of specimen: Flower.

Habitat:

Disturbed cloud forest. Common.
