Description:

Shrub to 2 m tall; flower buds and inflorescence bracts red; leaves with primary, secondary, tertiary veins strongly impressed, all higher order veins also strongly impressed; bullate leaf units with some projections/hairs. Phenology of specimen: Flower.
Habitat:

Disturbed moist cloud forest. With Brunellia, Weinmannia, Miconia, Magnolia, Gomodesia, Eugenia, Myrsine, Ocotea, Calyptranthes, Persea, Sagraea, Leandra, Meriania, Lyonia, Psychotria, Ilex, Coccoloba, Calycogonium, Henriettea, Clidemia. Occasional. Over limestone.
