Dominican Republic. La Vega. Cordillera Central, ca. 36-37 km S of Constanza on road from San José de Ocoa to Constanza; Valle Nuevo, at the "monument". Alt. 2330 - 2400 m. (7644 - 7874 ft.)

Description:

Uncommon shrub to ca. 3 m tall; immature inflorescences with reddish bracts; old fruits present. Phenology of specimen: Fruit.

Habitat:

Open forest of Pinus occidentalis with open areas of Danthonia domingensis. Uncommon.
