Dominican Republic. Distrito Nacional. Cordillera Central; Loma Mariana Chica, ca. 6 km west of Villa Altagracia. 150-775 m elev. (but occurring just on peak and ridge). Alt. 750 - 775 m. (2461 - 2543 ft.)

Description:

Branches rigidly ascending; new growth bright red. Shrub to 4 m tall; petals pale pink, reflexed; stamens white, actinomorphic; style white; fruits purple, turning sky blue at maturity. Leaves with major veins impressed. Phenology of specimen: Flower, Fruit.
Habitat:

Disturbed moist montane forest at peak (and ridge) of mountain, lower elevations with very patchy and disturbed moist forest. Occasional locally.
