Description:

Description Author and Date: Fabian A. Michelangeli, January 2010, based on Michelangeli, F. A. (2005). Tococa (Melastomataceae). Flora Neotropica Monographs 98: 1-114.

Type: Venezuela. Amazonas: Cerro La Neblina, 1700 m, 27 DEC 1953, Maguire, Wurdack & Bunting 36918 (holotype US; isotypes K, NY, P, VEN).

Description: Leaves adaxial surface glabrous, abaxial surface with a mix of short lepidote hairs and very sparse long glandular setae on the nerves, the remaining surface glabrous, the apex obtuse.

Habitat and Distribution: Growing in forests at the base and slopes of Cerro La Neblina and Sierra de Parima in the border between Venezuela and Brazil.
