Description:
Species Description - Small tree, the branchlets rugose, slender, glabrous; petioles shallowly canaliculate, rugose, glabrous, 2-3 mm. in diameter, 5 mm. long or more; leaf blades chartaceous or thin coriaceous, smooth above, densely and minutely glandular beneath, elliptic-oblong, 15-24 cm. long, 4-6 cm. broad, obtuse at base, obtusely short acuminate at apex, the costa shallowly grooved above, the prinicipal secondary nerves about 12 per side, paralleled by numerous tertiary nerves, prominulous on both surfaces, spreading, conspicuously anastomosing near margins, the veinilets copiously reticulate, prominulous on both surfaces; staminate inflorescences simple or 2-5-branched (branches spreading, nearly as long as the main rachis, minutely bracteate at base), 9-15 cm. long, minutely strigose on all exterior surfaces, the peduncle 2-3 cm. long, the rachis and secondary branches slender, the fascicles essentially sessile, alternate or opposite, 3-10 per inflorescence (or per branch), the bracts inconspicuous; flowers 5-10 per fascicle, the pedicels slender, up to 10 mm. long, bracteolate at summit (bracteole ovate-oblong, about 0.5 mm. long); perianth thin carnose, soon glabrous, campanulate, 3-4 mm. long, slightly flaring distally, 3-lobed about one-third its total length, the lobes ovate-deltoid, subacute, often glandular-margined; androecium nearly as long as the perianth, the filamnent column carnose, about 3 mm. lonig, the anthers 3, about 0.5 mm. long, dorsally connate; pistillate and fruiting inflorescences not seen.
