Discussion:

Type. Upland tree to 25 m high, calyx brownish green, stamens yellow, 40 minutes up Falcina River from Camp 8 (0° 57' N-51° 29' W), Rio Araguari, Territorio Amapa, Brazil, 14 Sept 1961, J.M. Pires, Wm. Rodrigues & G. C. Inane 50926 (holotype, male fl. NY).

A species whose leaves show, in the dried state at least, lateral nerves that ascend towards the margin in a more or less irregular, undulating arc. The sturdy branchlets grow more or less consistently straight and regular. The immature leaves are thin in texture, pubescent and their reticulation is conspicuous beneath. The exact relationship of this species in the genus is not certain.
