Panicum pallens Swartz, Prodr. Veg. Ind. Occ. 23. /. 53. 178

This specimen differs from typical Ichnanthus pallens in having blades which are not cordate-clasping. Because I can find no other distinctive features which correlate with this difference I prefer, at present, to leave it unnamed. Further collections may show it to be a distinct species or that this material is no more than a form of /. pallens, one of the most common species of the genus which ranges from southern Mexico and the West Indies to Argentina.
